They knew they were being totally non-traditional
hence the godilicious language in the Declaration of Independence- makes a nice way to smooth over the fact that they were saying basically "And Now For Something completely Different"

they could have put that same language in the constitution- you've already mentioned the A of Confed- why not repeat the holy language? A mistake? I doubt it.

Wonder what else you are mistaken about.

PS- from the pop up I got at the Catholics R Us place, I'd say what really concerns them right now is vouchers. Manna (or money) over abortion, and homosexulas, I'd say.
