Router can take care of your situation easily. You can share upto 100 users, I think, with hubs.

Play dumb and tell 'em your router is used for the firewall feature. You only have one PC at home and don't even know how to use it <g>.
Be aware that, with new subscriptions running slower than expected, the ISPs will search any opportunity to charge you an extra.
As you have cable, dsl, and still dial-in possibilities, this leaves the door open to negotiations.
