Most companies are not so aggressive as to take into income refunds for the future. This implies placing a line item on the balance sheet for Tax Assets (also where expected refund will go). As AMD made over $2 per share when profitable, they have not used up taxes paid yet, even though taxes paid were at a lower rate (something like 20%). I could be wrong. I will research and revert back.
