KPNQwest network to shut down starting Fri-web site

AMSTERDAM, July 18 (Reuters) - The remains of bankrupt
KPNQwest's data network, once Europe's largest, will be shutdown
in a controlled manner starting 0900 GMT Friday if no agreement
to sell it is reached, the company's web site said on Thursday.
KPNQwest <KQIP.AS> was declared bankrupt at the end of May,
but its trustees had managed to keep chunks of its network
running for the last six weeks with a skeleton staff and have
sold some parts of it.
The company's trustees have said that its parent company KPN
<KPN.AS> and Nordic region's top telecoms group Telia <TLIA.ST>
are interested in acquiring the remains.
