Yes! How about the logic we have currently employed: A guy got mad that we had military bases in his country (i.e. we were occupying his country), as well as our hegemony over the entire region. He found a number of people who agreed with him, and they attacked us, killing many civilians. Our response is to build a whole new series of military bases in the region. Huh? Gore Vidal has been persuasively arguing for 50 years that we need to abandon the Empire and go back to being a Republic. We started this empire crap 100 years ago in the Philippines (where we killed at least half a million people simply to establish dominance), and it needs to stop. Let the CEOs who benefit from our military operations go and serve as ground troops. Tom
