Every school, restaurant, hotel, train car, waiting room, elevator, public bathroom, college, hospital, cemetery, swimming pool, drinking fountain, prison, and church was either for whites or blacks but never for both. In courtrooms blacks swore on one Bible and whites on another. Throughout the first half of the 20th century, Southerners were born in segregated hospitals, educated in segregated schools, and buried in segregated graveyards.

i hate to bring up another footnote of history, but jews figured quite prominently in the slave trade. actually no one race is to blame. the blame can be spread amongst all the races. slavery still exists in africa today. africans enslaved their own people. arabs were quite involved with slavery. slavery was around long before america was settled and founded. in fact Jesus did not even denounce slavery two thousand years ago in the Bible! He never said, abolish slavery, He said, treat your slaves kindly! So trying to blame americans or the west for slavery is absurd. the west didn't invent slavery, but the west did end slavery. hundreds of thousands of white men spilled their blood and paid the ultimate price in the fight to end slavery (including my great cousin abraham lincoln), so i don't owe anyone a red cent!
