I've never been to Betty Ford and I've never been addicted to slavery, racial or ethnic intolerance, or any of the other vices and sins you want to "visit upon" me, so I have nothing to apologize for. And we won't be "all better now" until people stop trying to use the differences between people, past or present, as an excuse for dividing and classifying them or encouraging them to hate one another. We can't force craig to NOT be a racist - we can only hope the he, one day, sees the error of his ways. BTW, "assimilate" has many meanings, including "to make similar." Is the lingering distinctiveness of a particular ethnic group a failure to assimilate (a negative based on your arguments) or tolerance of differences (a positve in my book)?
