In other words Apple has not created any shareholder value since 1987 or so.... ouch! trying to compare apple to the old apple before 1997 when apple reinvented itself is like trying to compare two different companies..... the CEO is different, the board is different the products are different the size of the company (number of products) is different the shareholders are even different and the philosophy is different..... completely different camps......... there is nothing the same between the old Apple and new one except the name..... it is like a new IPO when Jobs came back...... even the shareholders changed hands...... i certainly wouldn't have invested in apple before the quazzi new IPO because Apple had a horrible Management that had the wrong philoshophy, they tried to create a clone market, and a beige box mentality.... talk about a price war and steping into a negative margin business.... if you want to know how apple would have turned out if they kept that philoshophy, look at CPQ and HPW (desktop division) and IBM (desktop division) and GateWay and Emachines...... nobody is making a profit except Dell which became the winner in such a cost for cost price war......... long term investors who invested into this new philosophy when jobs came back have been rewarded with 20% a year returns.....(since it is doubled in five years).... and thats if you just bought and held on......quicken.com now that being said, apple needs to do something about only having a major product introduction every one or two years, and get that to a major product introduction every 6 months, then you will see some real gains....... also apple needs to get its accounting in order, they watched too long while MSFT tricked the market, now they want to copy them, if they continue this practice of hiding a major expense, then that is going to also be a drag on this stock...... course i think all those options are now worthless.... so they've got that going for them.... :0).... jon.
