So, is it a failure of assimilation or tolerance of differences - diversity to be celebrated?

PS: Neither our "sins of the past" nor our historical record of waves of mass inward migration by "foreign" ethnic groups, however "we" treated them at the time, has lead to the downfall of America as John suggested. On the contrary, we have only grown stronger and more free. Do you deny that? My original point in argument with John holds.
