Greetings Sam

Wow, I sure haven't seen your handle around Apple or S.I. in general in a L-O-N-G time, good to see you around, pop in more often to give your two cents.

Regards
Don

Jonkai, let's take you point a step further. If Apple's cash is about $12.50 per share, and I have heard various renditions in this area, then plant and equipment are probably another $2 or so, not to mention the value of the brand.

I'm willing to bet a virtual beer and a netscape cookie that Apple will trade below $14 before the end of this quarter...

I think a strong argument can and should be made by Apple stockholders that the company should take some of that cash and repurchase 15 or 20 million shares.

I agree, unless Apple is eyeing a large acquisition...

unfortunately, reasoned heads like yours are not in control.... Apple should be using their money to increase shareholder value, either by buying other companies, or investing in technology that increases earnings.... both of which they do....

and one of those companies that is insanely close to cash value is apple themselves..... they said they are buying back shares, it would be idiotic for them to wait until higher prices to do it..... anybody in their right mind knows apple can't get cheaper than $13, so why not buy at $14....... they should blow their entire buy back budget extremely soon... and increase it by triple........

this would substantially increase earnings.... every shareholder would get that much more of FUTURE earnings, which is the most important,

FUTURE earnings is what a shareholder is looking for, who cares if book value is transferred from cash to reducing sharecount, the money sitting in the bank isn't doing anyone any good,

they could invest three times as much as they do in research and three times as much as they do buying other companies, and they still have an insane amount of money just sitting doing nothing more than your own savings account....

somebody needs to shake Fred Anderson and say WHAT IN THE H*LL are you doing? are you going to waste money buying back stock at HIGHER LEVELS... not to mention this new philosophy he's adopted of hiding the employee's pay from the earnings report....

geesh..... sometimes...... but hey..... it gives good buying opps.... course you'll have to wait two years before they come up with something new, and it is a hit.... (well maybe just one year)
