I'm not smart or educated. But, let's quit playing politics. GWB was essentially an AWOL President until 9/11. Then, he was forced to act and the level of sympathy for America was overwhelming worldwide(except for a few MidEast/Asian countries). During his campaign he started "knocking" the Economy and Stock Markets as early as March 2000. By July/Aug 2000 he had an apparently unsurmountable lead, and was viewed by many as the next Prez(Bill Clinton was a lame duck as of Jan2000 IMO).Since Inauguration the Economy and Markets have been in trouble. Maybe, under Clinton or Gore it would have behaved likewise(I doubt), maybe NOT. What I know is its GWB's job to deliver some results instead of HOT AIR for the RWE.

Re: "However much you would like this to be blamed on Bush/Cheney, SMART and educated people know better. And so should you!"

When the current economic malaise started is immaterial, Kay. Do you think Joe Voter will study a timeline before he casts his ballot in November?

What is important is whether the Bush administration has the ability (and confidence of the public) to halt the economic skid (the S&P 500 hit a five-year low today) and give Americans reason for hope.

Gephardt predicted today that the Democrats may pick up as many as 30 to 40 House seats in November because of the Big Business Scandal.

That figure may be too low, in my opinion.
