Public service must be made a noble calling. Otherwise, we're done for. Currently, it is being made an excuse to pillage the treasury, lie to the public, and break the laws. It's the government equivilent of "insider trading", where gov't insiders become profiteers. The worst are the covert operatives like Tenet, and the military-industrial cronies like Bush & Co. If the most egregious are investigated and the guilty jailed or hanged, it would improve politics enormously, and help make it a noble calling again.
