CEO's scapegoats? Obviously Mr. Grove didn't own ENE or WCOM stock or he might feel differently.

I watched a TV interview of Bernie Evers at the WCOM golf tournament several days before the scandal irrupted.

As much respect as I have for Grove, I have to disagree. CEO's are supposed to be leaders. Instead, they've become greedy landlords ready to sell their soul for money. Worse yet, the boards that hire and oversee them are rubber stamps/good old boys who in many cases were failed CEO's!

I worked for a company a few years ago that had two "fired CEO's" on the board! I knew the two guys, and they were incompetent. The only job they could hold was on our board! The Chairman had them in his pocket, so he didn't want to replace them with competent people.

CEO's deserve what they're getting, I won't stop there. The Boards that hire them need overhauling.

This is the dark side of our capitalist system, which is the best way to produce goods and services known. It is a work in progress that clearly needs overhauling. The place for leadership is in the board rooms which include the Chairman.
