Don't know about candle bowling,

Rather than regular bowling pins, the pins are cylindrical and shaped much like candles about 1.5 feet high as I recall. You use a ball that fits in your hand like a softball (no holes) and I believe you throw 3 per frame. Pins that are knocked over stay in the lane and can be used to knock over other pins. The game is popular in Canada and the Northeast US. I'm not sure where else it might be played.
