You raise interesting points. The Democrats, of course, are not without blame in this arena, either. However, what we're seeing now is basically a Republican-Big Business scandal, given the financial ties between Corporate America and the GOP. I fear Big Government less than most people do. At times, the welfare of the people is best ensured by Big Government as opposed to letting the marketplace decide (cigarette smoking, for instance.)
