I disagree. I think the moral tone of the WH does make a difference. The fact that the last one was completely toneless did make a difference.

Pretty much agree. These things are products of bull markets... and the larger the bull market, the more bull there is in it. I say "pretty much" because if a President made it clear that if execs engaged in shenanigans, they could expect a stay in a publicly financed hotel, that would reduce the amount of fraud. But I can't remember any President ever doing that.

I remember thinking back in '97 that when that bubble collapsed, we would find out what trickery went into it. Well, here it is. If you were paying attention, it was perfectly clear back then that lots of people were playing fast and loose.
