"Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, the right-wing firebrand whose Contract With America championed the business deregulation that encouraged today's corporate corruption...". How clever of her to have identified the single cause of the problem. The rest of the article seems similarly balanced and well thought out. JMHO, Scott

Stockman...

Cogent piece. I've been wondering who GW is listening to these days. He seems to be in deep denial.

I'm also wondering how much longer consumer spending will hold us up. If individuals begin to behave like their employers and slash spending, we may face deflation. That would completely wash out even the hope of profits.

My strategy? Hold cash. I don't have to pick the bottom. If the market is coming back, I'll have plenty of time to profit. If it doesn't, .pov may have real meaning for us all.

What an absurd little populist piece of complete idiocy. It completely ignores the boom and bubble of the 1990's and the subsequent crash and burn. She displays no understanding of economics. The current round of 'scandals' are symptoms of the bubble (and every bubble).

Pink Floyd, the ultimate source of all philosophical insight, said something very cogent that applies to the current 'eat cake and have it to' crowd that is seeking to find and lynch those who are to blame.

"Careful with that axe, eugene."
