Sun is getting its clock cleaned by Dell. I remember a few years ago Sun tried to put in a simple manufacturing system which was the vanilla version of the highly customized Dell solution, and about 1/10 the complexity. Sun suffered the most severe case of NIH I've ever seen in a tech company with their inexperienced (in biz sw) team trying to re-write the entire Oracle order cycle. About 8 false starts later they finally launched. Meanwhile dell is cranking along... I thought then, man this company better invent some core technology because they sure aren't gonna make it on manufacturing efficiency... looks like the crows are coming to roost... or whatever the cliche is! L
