I agree that people should take some responsibility, educate themselves and make both government and business change. The problem is we are a society of lazy and increasingly uneducated people. That has to change. If people knew how to read a balance sheet before investing their money, perhaps WCOM and the other scandals would not have occurred, maybe we would have questioned the analysts and their $1000 price targets. To cure the problem we need to unplug the TVs, read and stop being so f*cking lazy.
