wr--You're not giving QCOM executives the credit they deserve for acting in the interest of shareholders. Look back at the pattern of issuing convertible preferred stock in order to protect common shareholders from dilution. Convertible preferred starts out as a claim on assets, similar to a bond, but does not dilute common share earnings until it converts to common. You can call that pro forma or whatever you like, but to me it is a clear example of managment putting shareholder interests first.
