Tenchusatsu, you're arguing with an idiot.

Albert will never have anything useful to say. He's proven that time and time again. It's like reasoning with a child who's throwing a tantrum - only better, since you have the option of ignoring that child completely.

INtel is far more profitable than AMD and in general "safer" to invest. That is not what made Enron and wcom such a big scandal what made it a scandal is that perception of risk exposer was completely off for those companies. Now in amd case we all understand the risks and if we feel that they are worth the rewards we invest. It would not be a shocker to me that under certain condition amd can go under. OTOH, it was a shocker to many on this thread that intel goes through regular business cycles. Constantly changing accounting rules does not help either and I am not just talking about goodwill accounting here. Take for a example treatment of return on investment. We now know that it was a bad decision but Intel got away almost unscratched with that one.
Well I am going on a business trip for week tomorrow so I do not have too much time but let me just repeat that it has something to do with the difference between perceived and actual risk. It is up to company to define it's own risk profile and no matter how risky that company might be as long as there is no misrepresentation it is ok. No matter how secure company may be or feel if it misrepresent its risk exposure then it is not ok.
If you wish to continue on this then we can continue in a week.
