Ted,Re: "AMD, of lat, is one of the few tech stocks that is showing some strength......hope it continues"

Uh? here's how AMD is performing lately.

which chart are you looking at?

Maui, I should have remembered that this is a tough crowd, and should not have so carelessly made such a statement before clearly defining my parameters and doing a thorough analysis of the subject matter. I must admit that I made the statement based almost exclusively on anecdotal evidence...........definitely, a dangerous faus pax on this thread.

First of all, "of late", means to me 1-3 months and when I say "tech stocks", I mean tech in general, not just semis. And when I say "showing some strength", I mean its not going down in the face of bad news.

Having said all that, I have put together a chart of some tech bellwethers, covering a three month time span. Reviewing that chart suggests to me that AMD appears to be holding up rather well, particularly in light of two earnings warnings, a dismal Q2 and half ass guidance for Q3 and Q4.

Disclaimer: while performing this exercise, I do not pretend to have covered the gamut of tech stocks nor even tech bellwethers, and that it is very conceivable there are some [tech stocks] that have performed better than AMD during the same period under discussion. I further profess that I am not a sell side analyst nor have been professionally trained to discuss such issues such as stock performance. In addition, my ability to post intelligently is limited and subject to some question given the condition of my portfolio and the stock market's performance over the past year, and the impact they have had on the creditability of my brain and the info/trash that spews from it.

Finally, I further disclaim that reading this post may be hazardous to your health and may cause cancer, migraine headaches, drowsiness, nausea, dry mouth and/or diarrhea.
