Is intelligent political debate a norm in Canada?

No. We are just quietly desperate and cynical. Right now most Canadians are not as personally identified with their political beliefs.

My comment about the accounting scandals being an issue of economics and not politics comes from much hard study on the history of bubbles. In that way, Bush is taking the right approach trying to keep the issue out of the political process. My comments we meant as commentary from economic history. However, I would have bet money that someone would have attacked the post (ignoring it's content) simply because it said something positive about Bush. It would have happened on just about any board anywhere on the net. It makes the discussion about the history and structure of bubble a giant pain in the a$$.
