I seem to remember their health care was socialized while I was there (late 80's, it's been a while). Maybe things have changed since then or I was wrong. I'll look it up this weekend and verify it.

I still have an army issue (black handle) Swiss army knife from that trip. Also, yes, I remember that they were required to store their own rifles for instant response in case of invasion. I believe the government supplied the ammunition.
