Re: How long a slump? Here are some monthly charts for Dow and Naz that I've just annotated to give some idea of LT trends and retrace points:

Dow monthly:

I think (as is almost common wisdom on message boards) that the Dow has plenty farther to fall, and the Naz less so. Clearly, the Naz has been at it longer, although that doesn't dictate that it rebound first.

I added some QQQ and opened BEAS and AOL positions Friday, after buying QQQ and SEBL the day before. Reading the bleak forecasts for next week, I suppose I'll prove to be early on all positions. I must be another piece of anecdotal evidence that there isn't a bottom-like level of fear and capitulation, with people still positioning for a bounce. But I'm still mostly in cash and gold stocks.
