I got the following reply to my query about the updated 1X sub numbers posted on the 3G Today website: Hello Jack, We’ve updated the subscribers for June. I apologize about the delay this month. As for the other 3G carriers, we added Sprint PCS this month since they’ve announced that there are currently 1.8 million 30 CDMA2000 1x handsets active on their network. We are still waiting for Verizon and others to announce their 3G subscriber numbers. Best regards, Ted Friedrichs QUALCOMM INC.

Some additional PCS launch hints from the newsgroups. groups.google.com <snip> According to a "sprint official" They are going to have some sort of Toshiba Pocket PC thing for 800 and the Audiovox Thera phone. Now a less reliable source said they were just going to carry the palm OS, and wouldn't give any models or anything. Phones coming out Aug 13. Loads and lots of pricing plans, with every little other feature being an addon like sprint is now. Some retailers are "3g certified" and they will have the phones first. Obviously I would think Rat Shack would be one of these stores. Its like christmas to see what they are all going to bring out. Its going to take a pocket pc to make me give in to my UPROAR. <snip> I heard a rumor yesterday that my store was one of three out of 32 RadioShack stores in my district that will be a 3G showcase store. Maybe we will be "3G certified". Sprint PCS will be having a 3 hr. training expo 01 Aug for all it's retailers. Although the phones they will be making the most noise about will most likely not be carried by RS. <snip>
