Honda gets OK to sell fuel cell cars in U.S.-media

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NEW YORK, July 24 (Reuters) - Honda Motor Co <7267.T> said on Wednesday it had obtained approval from the U.S. government and from California to sell fuel cell-powered vehicles, Japanese media reported.

Thursday's edition of the Nihon Keizai Shimbun (Nikkei), monitored in New York, said Honda became the first automaker in the world to receive such permission in the United States.

Honda plans to start putting its FCX fuel cell car on the market in California as well as in Japan by the end of December, Nikkei and Jiji Press reported.

According to the reports, the company expects to sell about 30 units during the first two to three years of sales.
