" Because Hamas, Hizbollah, and Islamic Jihad are all creatures of Israel's illegal occupation, illegal settlements, the illegal invasion and occupation of Lebanon, and Israel's indiscriminate demolition of civilian farms and homes. In addition, Israel has, on many many occasions, indiscriminately targeted civilians in retaliation for the actions of a single independent terrorist suicide bombing. Remember, there was no Hamas and Hizbollah before the Israeli occupation, settlement program and state policy to demolish the homes of innocent Palestinians, and there was no Hizbollah before Israel illegally invaded and occupied Lebanon (Israel killed some 20,000 innocent civilians in this illegal invasion).(Israel continues to occupy parts of Lebanon (Bekka Farms). It is the brutal, aggressive and unjust actions of Israel that have created the need for these organizations. The Palestinians have no army, no air force, no helicopter gunships, no tanks, no jets, no naval gunships, etc. In other words, they have no way to defend themselves against Israel's brutal, murderous and illegal occupation. They have no defense against Israel's settlement program, which is only a thinly disguised way to annex the entire West Bank and Gaza. It is this terrible hopelessness that enables the radical Islamic movements to find significant support among the Palestinian people. Hizbollah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, etc. offer the only resistance to the brutal actions of the Zionist occupation, the murder of civilians (over 1700 in the latest round--mostly civilians )and settlement theft. "then why does not the Palestinians bring them to justice.." Sharon's Death Squads have destroyed the entire infrastructure of the legally and democratically elected Palestinian Authority Police force, and, in addition, has put the legally elected Chairman Arafat under a virtual house arrest. How do you expect the disarmed and destroyed PA to achieve what you suggest? Sharon, the Likud, and Gus Emunim, IMO, does not want the suicide bombings to stop (The recent revelation that settlers are selling ammunition to the Palestinians supports this opinion). The attacks are needed by the Likud, the fundamentalists, and Gus Emunim to justify their goal of "transfering all Palestinians" and annexing the West Bank and Gaza in fulfillment of their vision for a Greater Israel. In conclusion, let me emphasize that the central energy that drives this conflict is the theological dogma of fundamentalist (Orthodox) Jews and Christian Zionists that ALL Palestinian lands must be claimed by modern Jews to fulfill their distorted understanding of biblical prophecies. Denying this theological motive behind the Israeli occupation makes it impossible solve the problem in a rational and just manner. The Christian and Jewish Zionists will entertain NO compromise or just solution except the total "ethnic cleansing" of the entire Palestinian population. The Christian Zionists and the Jeiwsh-American Zionists are virtually controlling our Congress and directing our foreign policy vis a vis the Middle East. If Americans refuse to deal with these toxic, unjust and immoral influences on our government and society, America's prestige and influence is sure to decline. We are already experiencing the first stages of that decline.

After two attempts by Israel's neighbors (1948 and 1967) to destroy her via attacks from Gaza and the West Bank, most of the international community acknowledged Israel's right to defensible borders. Israel has no military or historical reason to give that land up under any circumstances, but have several times offered to do so in exchange for having their neighbors simply leave them alone. There is no shame for Israel in trying to protect it's citizens from genocide.

We have all witnessed Israel's propaganda maps where they claim Palestinian textbooks do now show Israel on the map. This has been mostly used to discredit the Palestinian Authority and justify Israel's illegal settlements and occupation. Now we find that Netanyahu's central map on his webpage has totally wiped out the occupied West Bank, Gaza and Golan Heights and substituted them with an Israeli map that encompasses the entire territory. store3.yimg.com Netanyahu's webpage is worth reading to understand that the breadth and depth of Israel's lunatic fringe includes the majority of the Jews in Israel. netanyahu.org
