Oh yeah, and RJR's was even higher when I bought it at $17 a share in December of 2000 I think. What a nice run that was with MO and RJR, collecting the dividends, writing short dated covered calls and then finally selling the stock for a fat capital gain.

MRK is fine, but I think I'd avoid buying stocks like this until the bottom is in. It maybe a good buy here at 40, but will definitely be a better later in the tuna melt, and it could become a fantastic buy (in the $20's?) when autumn leaves start to fall . . .
