Yes that is certainly possible. I do not have mut fund data from that period.

btw, I had started to invest in 1985, via a stock fund in an IRA acct. I thought i was a genius with my fairly large gains going into the fall of 1987, and in just two trading days i lost all those gains. But by the time I heard what had hapened, on the TV news Monday night, I figured it was too late to do anything. Good thing.

ah, the days of no internet, no cnbc, and no stock mkt mania!
