You're talking about Tucson, I'm talking about Lincoln County, New Mexico. How come we always talk past each other? <g>

Ruidoso is turning into a yuppie haven, but the surrounding towns are still populated by rugged individualists. It takes a rather unique temperament to try farming or ranching in the Capitan Mountains.

We're all independents.

Independents are looking better and better. The current Democrat/Republican debate appears to be over which faction of the Big Government Party can run things more efficiently.

I've removed my Bush/Cheney sticker from my car. I'll put in its place a sticker for a guy named Richardson (not the New Mexico Richardson, that's a different guy) who is running for governor here (Oklahoma). Largent is probably a shoo-in, but he may lose a large number of votes to this guy. He only talks about three things when he campaigns, getting rid of the state income tax, getting a lottery for the state, and getting rid of the turnpikes. It probably sounds too simple, but those three changes would dramatically alter things here.

He won't win, but he's getting Largent to at least talk about repealing the state income tax.
