Actually, I made money over the entire period from 1993-2002, including the "mania", as you put it. Indeed, I made more money in the period 1993-1999 than afterwards, but only a speculative market timer would focus on such short term fluctuations. the whole point of long term investing is to ignore short term fluctuations.

BTW, I have already explained what I have done with the employer match, and that it hasn't materially affected my returns during the years the market kept going up. Are you having trouble understanding it? Ah, reading disability strikes again.
