Wow, and I thought sinking 400 yards from shore in 34 degree water was upsetting.

When I was 11 we went out on Kentucky Lake. "Uncle" Bill showed me how to run his little boat. One evening when my dad and "uncle" Bill had drank a few we went out on Kentucky Lake. Storm came up, it had been brewing, and "uncle" Bill had a heart attack. I got us back in and he survived.

The next year my parents and I were on a 48' Chris Craft. 2 engines, 287 Ford v 8s. Calm so I could do the driving from the US across Lake Erie to Canada. Alcohal was involved. The adults went to sleep and when the lake got rough I was the only one on the flying bridge. Swing into the wave and while climbing swing back the other way. Parked that boat just outside the marina.

I did the Power squadron class and scored 100%.
