thecow, speedtests: I get very different results from different sites now. pcpitstop repeatedly says my cable is 3x as fast as dial-up. [it should be at least 30x]. But bandwidthplace says it's about 20x. There is wide variation - up to 10x - in ping test results. So AT&T has not fixed it yet. I'll call them again tomorrow.

Pinging my own ISP also yields very uneven results.

thecow - well I'm back with another problem. Trying to get a gateway keyboard to work on a none gateway machine. I installed(setup65M.exe)a Gateway multi-media keyboard package that I downloaded from the web. The keyboard which has audio controls did not work properly and I lost my PC audio. I uninstalled the application but I still have no audio. I have looked at the following

a/speaker controls for muting
b/multi-media in control panel for proper sound card driver.

Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated, thanks for all your help in the past.

my system is a PII400/win98
