Have your plan in place.
If gold stocks gap up at the open, I am selling at least 1/2 of my holding and possibly more.

Then
a) If the market starts to rally I stay out of gold stocks for a while
b) If the market falls and so does gold stock, I might buy back at the close
c) If gold stocks keep going up, I hold whatever I kept and possibly sell a gap up the following day.
d) At no point am I chasing a gap up in gold stocks right now

Have a plan.
It might be different than mine.... but have one.
