Scumbria, if the US attacks Iraq, then Israel does have the right to protect itself against Saddam's missiles. But if Israel starts moving into Syria and Lebanon, then the war could get out of hand. And I am not sure if Israel would not move into those countries in the name of protecting its territories.

Also, it is likely that there maybe a provocation from across the Israeli-Lebanon and th Israeli-Syria border. But Iraq and Syria don't see eye to eye and I presume that cross border provocation would not occur.
