In the end they will be have been placated so many times that when they are 80% down in their portfolio they will still be sure they did the right thing, they were obedient,and obedience is always rewarded.Max BTW, if SPX were to rise at 7% per year , this year, and every subsequent year, by the year 2011 it will be back to it's previous high.So why worry:) max

Most are wearing ear plugs and blinders. They DO NOT WANT TO KNOW. Most do not understand this concept. If they ever look at their statements in silence -- without CNBC paid shills running in the background -- they will panic at some point. They SHOULD panic. That is the missing key. CNBC says when panic comes, it is the ignorant, the uninformed, the financial idiots, based on other panics. But we have never had a time in history where the earnings have been to a large part -- FRAUD! Every other panic was caused by external economic events. There were good reasons why the markets went down, but the companies were at least dealing from a straight deck. The 1990's deck was marked. You cannot win against a seasoned crook. When regular people finally realize they have been scammed and lied to by companies, brokers, analysts, TV financial news, media -- ALL IN ONE GREAT BIG CONCERTED LIE WITH ONE PURPOSE -- TO STEAL THEIR MONEY -- the gig will be up. Panic will actually be rational thought, and that scares the bejeebers out of the thieves. I remain, SOROS
