So was freeing the slaves. You don't see us trying to take credit for it.

Nazism was born from nationalism, hatred of the Jews, and some socialist elements. Socialism isn't conservative. Some conservatives (and some liberals) hate, but hatred and prejudice is not part of conservative thought. That leaves nationalism. It is often associated with conservative thought, but countries ruled by groups acting in the name of almost any ideology have been nationalists so even that connection is weak if it exists at all.
