Some Europeans are very scared of Bin Laden, and believe that avoiding confrontation will make them safe. Neville Chamberlain tried this same theory out in 1938, with rather poor results.

When the US attacks Saddam, Britain will be there and France will likely fall into line as well. When it's over, most every country (including Saudi Arabia and Iran) will celebrate Saddam's demise.
