The Palestinians are probably less respectful of the rights of other Palestinians then the Israelis are. A vague hint that someone might be a "collaborator" might cause them to be torn to pieces often without a trial, and when there is a trial it doesn't make much difference. If anyone tried to resist violently in Iraq, or Iran, or even places like Saudi, Egypt, and Jordan, they would be treated far worse then what the Israelis have done to the Palestinians. For that matter the Israelis didn't put the Palestinians in refugee camps the Arabs did. Tim, I see....you are routinely limited in your travels, your home is subject to invasion at any time, if you are suspected of treasonous activities, you may be tortured, and you have no control over your life. How is this better than living under a Arabic regime? However, I do not believe the suicide bomber is a radicalized Palestinian teenager but rather one borne from despair much like American teenage suicides. Sure they feel despair, but if you plan and prepare for a terrorist act and then carry it out you are also "a radical" whether or not you are primarily acting out of despair. So you feel that all suicides are radicals? Also I was not just talking about the bombers but also those who train and lead them. I submit that they are more "radical" then they are full of despair. I suspect that's true.they are too young to fully understand the politics of hate The young can hate as much as anyone else, and they can understand the simple radical ideas of Islamic fundamentalism or secular Palestinian nationalist thought. I didn't say hate, I said the politics of hate. There is a difference. But I believe we need to stop judging and condemning these suicide bombers. I completely disagree. I think accepting them (refusing to judge or condemn them) would be unjust, and would be a mistake. Where did I say accept them [and presumably their beliefs]? I said only to stop judging and condemning......its enough already.Instead, we need to focus our energies on understanding the cause of these suicides so that we can prevent them in the future. Understanding causes is great but responding to them with concessions only encourages more of them. Once again, where did I say concessions? I said lets work to eliminate the causes of the despair so that we don't have suicide bombers. The goal is to eliminate suicide bombers, not coddle the enemy as Ms. Coulter would have you believe that that's what the liberal paradigm is all about. ted
