Both of you are wrong, George II was neither appointed nor elected by majority vote. He was elected by a majority of electoral votes. After a lot of confusion.
As to the scandals, Clinton's bill to try to prevent these scandal situations was voted down by Congress. That was the bill to hold corporate executives accountable. So the Pandora's box of corporate irresponsibility was opened by a Republican Congress.

And, oh, by the way, have you heard that we do not elect presidents by majority vote?

what "system" do you think I was referring to when I stated appointed "by the system, of course"... which must now include, besides the electoral college, the supreme court as well...

He was elected by a majority of electoral votes.

since I disagree with the very existence of such a body in this day and age I choose to use the word "appointed"..."elected" sounds TOO democratic...it might give some the wrong idea about our...democracy...
