RE: Dark Ages when your wondrous Judeo-Christian ethic dominated the Western World? Actually, the Roman Catholic Church dominated the western world, and the RC church was corrupt, and devoid of any Judeo-Christian ethic. It was even forbidden for individuals to read the Bible (lest they might understand true Christianity), punishable by death. The current Catholic Priest problem is only a symptom of the ongoing corruption of the Catholic church. This has no bearing on the true Christian church which is not an institution, but a body of believers committed to the work of Christ. Besides, the dark ages were not nearly so dark as the 20th century. The great atheist murderers Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot have outdone all of the great oppressors of hte past combined (many times over). Add in the Pagan Third Reich, and you have the cruelest and most horrible century in recorded history, totally dominated by non-Christians.
