True. The index changes. But if you are invested in the index, you change with it- so trend lines do still matter, IMO.

Doesn't mean the bottom is exactly there at some trendline- but it's a target one can actually see.

Watching the nightly news- the tension and fear are so thick you can cut it with a knife. I've never seen anything like it in my years.

From what I hear from some old timers- the fear levels are near lifetime highs for them also. It's the polar opposite of 1999.

It's probably the opportunity of the decade to buy. But who's gonna listen to me. I've been long since last september..

On TV the pundits are now worrying that the market is gonna drag the economy down with it. Fear is the word.

Say- if the world economy is collapsing, shouldn't gold be doing better?
