The report yesterday by Bellsouth (BLS) [http://biz.yahoo.com/rf/020722/telecoms_bellsouth_earns_16.html] of declining sales and revenue and their disappointing forecast for the future may be a sample of what's lurking out there. Ask yourself, "Why would individuals and businesses scale back on phone services?" If individuals and businesses are scaling back on phone services, they are almost certainly scaling back on other discretionary expenses, and I expect that will start showing up in other companies bottom lines soon.
