gary, agreed. the opposite of the positive spiral is a negative spiral. we are in the latter.

imho, it would be smart to dca into some good values now - but slowly. the expectation is to lose some dough short term, but also to make sure you have some dough in the market longer term when we begin moving up again...

the key is to buy companies with real businesses at the right price.

"The teeny bopper investors have lost their asses with technology laden portfolios. They're out of the market and are swearing off stocks. It will be years before many of them return." Actually they are not all out the market -- but they are heading for the exits. Most of the aggressive teeny boppers got killed along the way unless they were smart enough to get out. But many of the smart ones who did not use much margin and who mixed blue-chip techs like intc and msft into portfolios along with some GE and other big names -- and the slightly more conservative ones with big tech related growth and 'value' mutual funds -- these are the ones asking, "hey do you think I should just sell before it gets any worse?" There are millions of them out there asking themselves the same question.

>>Darkest before the storm<<

Gary, I believe the saying is "...darkest before the dawn".
