Some would say it shows the control the media has over our self-impression.

Lots of reasons. Less news is read and it's dumbed down. More time is spent watching the 30 second news spot. The most popular radio show is Rush; not a news show. At best it's an opinion column. [That's grossly generous] None of those listeners really want to form their own opinion by reading, they want someone to tell them what their opinion is.

You've got the conservatives watching a few thousand dollar grant given by the Endowment of the Arts. That's something they have the mental capacity to grasp. A couple of Trillion just slips on by them.

But a lot of the contradictions are in the written news...Bush supports free trade ... steel tariffs and lumber tariffs...Bush strongly opposes farm subsidies ...and pushes Congress for a 65% increase. Mid-east policy...what time is it? Veto campaign finance reform? I don't think so.

Look at this one: washingtonpost.com

Bush goes against his own little study group, for what? You can't even call it ideology, UN aid has reduced abortion rates in the countries where it's provided. It's a whim decision based on some special interest lobby.
