well, it's not like they completely closed off the harbor to all traffic...

I'm pretty firmly in the build-something-ten-times-as-grand camp. The people who were killed were working at THE WORLD TRADE CENTER, their place of work - if it meant anything, it meant striving to move forward, up, out... the whole American dream leading the world... it's too much to give that up symbolically to the annihilistic work of a few deranged medievalist crypto-totalitarian zealots... might as well just call the whole show over... the memorial should be there, in fact it should be not only the tallest structure there, but the world's tallest structure - tallest by far - but the totality should add up to a mind-blowingly fantastical architectural creation, not a new Babel, but something almost beyond belief... er, insanely great, as Jobs would say...
