You know, this foreigners in, foreigners out of our markets rhetoric is so old. When the Yen is stronger against the dollar, foreigners can buy more "stock" for the buck/yen conversion. And when the dollar is strong and the yen is weak, they get irrational exuberent bull market returns for their investments. Frankly, I don't think it makes much difference, when all is said and done. And to that extent, this is at LEAST the 3rd "take their bond money and go home" cycle I've been in with the Japanese buying our debt in my last 30 years of paying to play, too. It's NOT "Mom and Pop Samurai" that puts money to work in the US version of "JDR" (japanese depositary receipts)...its the J. postal fund pension managers, J. banks, J brokerages, J Hedge funds, et al. So all this yak about the "Oh, my, the yen's doing this/the yen's doing that" is a bunch of ignorant hooey. Ditto the currency market interventions that are only good for blips and quicky institutional slambamthankyouma'am trading and delta hedging, same as the momo's do here. Hell, I think they've even got a name for it: candlesticking, yes?<g> I don't know where the talking heads get some of their rhetoric, but it sure is screwy for the most part. Equities go up, and equities go down. Greed is always destructive. Cooked books here in the USA are worse than cooked books in Japan? How many finance ministers did they go thru that single 20 month period here a while back? A dozen? Two? Last I heard, the sun still rose on the Japanese empire, and the streets were still clogged with consumers over there. Same here. Their real estate bubble burst at home. Ours will too. Asset Inflation. Recession/deflation/inflation/stagflation/flagulation...who cares anymore? I'm caring less and less as I continue to do what I love which is buy discarded gold cheap cheap cheap and refine it and make my share of obscene profits from $20 oz cost to today's $322 +/- retail. And when THAT gets boring, and it truly does..... I pick up another mining claim and go poke around it like I'm doing tomorrow. This is my first claim on a nifty little tailings pile that was let go by an oooooooooooooooooooooooooold geezer. I got 40 acres of the 90 available. Can hardly wait to get out there. Aim your taxi S and West and come see how the yen yawners live...grass is soft, sky is clear, coyotes will lullaby you to sleep, and I've got an extra shovel and bucket with your name on it. Oh, and I'll provide the "OFF" spray for the pesky skeeters.... g_t
