You give Sharon a lot of credit. Israel does change Prime Ministers fairly often. Arafat has been a permanent fixture.

I don't accept your assertion of equal responsibility

Arafat has been publicly or privately pushing for the destruction of Israel for 30 years now, whereas Sharon has been in power for less than 2 years. Sharon came to power after Arafat again chose terrorism over peace in 2000, and Sharon has taken significant action to eliminate those responsible for continuing the conflict. The West Bank is free of terrorist leaders at this point, and Israel is now starting to clear them out of Gaza.

You should be patient, and see if Sharon's approach ultimately works out. I suspect that Israel and the Arab Palestinians are closer to peace now than they have been for some time.
