You know everything is relative. AMAT like ALTR may report guidance that is better than NVLS just as ALTR reported guidance better than XLNX.

Unfortunately whether this is just a slowdown, or a plateau in orders as Gottfried suggests is typical of past cycles, valuations are still a concern. This is especially true when the btb growth is slowing at dollar levels that do not imply robust growth.

Cary is most likely right that we get a much slower growth cycle here. Individual stock and company performance on a relative basis has been getting lost in the fact that we have a tepid economic recovery. In other words even those stocks beating analysts expectations and guiding higher are not rocketing higher.

Still, the stock market is clearly trying to find a bottom.

Will the myriad of investor concerns from accounting scandals to further terrorist actions and our retaliation make the bottom we find a true bottom or just more quicksand.
